Lucknow, April 6, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Excise Department has achieved a historic milestone by recording its highest-ever annual revenue of ₹57,722 crore in the financial year 2025-26. This marks a 9.79% increase over the previous year’s collection of ₹52,573 crore.
Addressing a press conference, Excise Minister Nitin Agarwal attributed the strong performance to rising ethanol production, improved molasses output, and the adoption of advanced technological systems across the sector.
The state witnessed significant growth in ethanol (power alcohol) production, reaching 20,838.59 lakh litres (till February 2026), reflecting robust industrial activity and contributing substantially to revenue growth.

In a move to enhance transparency, the department implemented an e-lottery system for the allocation of liquor shops for FY 2026-27. So far, 25,613 shops have been renewed, while 811 shops have been allotted through lottery, with the remaining process underway.
To further streamline operations and ensure transparency, the department has implemented the Integrated Excise Supply Chain Management System (IESCMS). The system enables end-to-end digital monitoring of licensing, permits, and supply chains, supported by technologies such as GPS tracking, digital locks, CCTV surveillance, QR codes, and POS systems.
Looking ahead, the Excise Department has set an ambitious revenue target of ₹71,278 crore for FY 2026-27, with a continued focus on transparency, strict enforcement, and technology-driven governance.
