The excise department in Noida is set to expand liquor retail in the new financial year by adding 25 new shops, with allotments to be made through an e-lottery on April 9. The move is expected to generate around ₹30 crore in additional revenue.
According to District Excise Officer Subodh Kumar, the new additions will include 23 country liquor shops and 2 composite liquor shops. With this expansion, the total number of liquor outlets in Gautam Budh Nagar will rise from 501 to 526.
At present, the district has 501 liquor vends, including 234 country liquor shops, 239 composite shops, 27 model shops, and one bhang shop.
30 Shops to Be Allotted Through E-Lottery
Officials also confirmed that five shops from the previous financial year—four model shops and one country liquor shop—could not renew their licences and will now be included in the fresh allotment process.
In total, 30 liquor shops (including new and pending ones) will be allotted through the upcoming e-lottery.

Application Process and Fees
Applications for the e-lottery have already begun, with different fee structures based on the type of shop:
- Country liquor shops: ₹40,000 to ₹65,000
- Composite shops: ₹55,000 to ₹90,000
- Model shops: ₹60,000 to ₹1 lakh
Officials clarified that these are application fees only. Selected applicants will have to pay a separate licence fee after allotment, which varies depending on the shop’s location and expected revenue potential.
Focus on Revenue Growth
The expansion is part of the department’s annual strategy to streamline liquor retail distribution and increase excise revenue in the district.
In the previous financial year (2025–26), the department received 18,229 applications and generated around ₹150 crore through the e-lottery process. Notably, this was the first such lottery-based allotment since 2018, as licences were earlier renewed annually.
