After Indian single malt whisky made waves worldwide, Indian rum is now gaining attention — with Camikara leading the way.
In recent years, India’s spirits industry has started earning global respect for quality and craftsmanship. Now, rum—deeply connected to India’s sugarcane heritage—is also stepping into the spotlight.
Camikara, India’s first pure cane juice aged rum, has achieved a major milestone by winning top awards at leading international competitions. At the Global Rum & Cachaça Masters Awards 2026 in the UK, Camikara 8-Year-Old won the highest honour, the Master Medal, while the 3-Year-Old variant secured a Gold Medal for the second consecutive year.
The success continued in the United States, where Camikara 8YO received a Double Gold Medal at The Fifty Best awards—an honour given only when all judges give top scores. The 3YO variant also won Gold, proving the brand’s consistent quality.
These achievements mark an important moment for Indian rum, which has long been overshadowed by Caribbean and Latin American brands. Now, India is emerging as a serious player in the premium rum segment.

A key reason behind Camikara’s success is its authentic production process. Unlike many rums made from molasses, Camikara is crafted using fresh sugarcane juice, processed within 36 hours to retain natural flavours. It is then aged in American oak barrels in North India’s subtropical climate, which enhances maturation and adds depth to the spirit.
Produced by Piccadilly Agro Industries Limited, the brand reflects a shift in India’s alco-beverage industry—from mass production to premium, globally competitive spirits.
With growing international recognition, Camikara is helping redefine the global image of Indian spirits as high-quality, craft-driven products.
