United Breweries rolls out Kingfisher Smooth, targeting young strong-beer drinkers

United Breweries Ltd. (UBL), part of the Heineken Group, has expanded its Kingfisher portfolio with the launch of Kingfisher Smooth, a new strong beer aimed at younger consumers looking for a smoother drinking experience without losing the punch of strength.

Designed for the evolving preferences of next-generation drinkers, Kingfisher Smooth promises a balanced and easy-to-drink profile while staying true to the strong beer category. The beer is brewed using imported hops and contains no added sugar, making it more approachable and suitable for longer drinking sessions.

The product has been launched in Rajasthan, one of India’s largest markets for strong beer. Commenting on the launch, Vivek Gupta, CEO of United Breweries, said the company sees Kingfisher Smooth as a breakthrough in the mainstream strong beer segment. He noted that extensive research, design work, and consumer testing went into developing the beer, combining a superior brew with modern packaging that reflects UBL’s focus on innovation.

Echoing this sentiment, Vikram Bahl, Chief Marketing Officer at UBL, said strong beer continues to dominate beer consumption in India. As drinking occasions become more diverse, consumers are increasingly seeking smoother and more drinkable strong beers that still deliver the familiar taste they enjoy. Kingfisher Smooth, he added, is designed to meet this shift in consumer preference.

Kingfisher Smooth is now available at leading retail outlets across Rajasthan, priced at ₹100 for a 330 ml bottle, ₹145 for a 500 ml can, and ₹185 for a 650 ml bottle.
