UP Excise Department Achieves 94.33% of Target; On Track to Meet ₹63,000 Crore Goal for FY 2025-26

Lucknow, November 6: Uttar Pradesh’s Excise and Prohibition Department has shown remarkable performance in revenue collection during the current financial year. Against a target of ₹32,500 crore for the April–October 2025 period, the department has already collected ₹30,657.54 crore, achieving 94.33% of the target.

Chairing a review meeting on Wednesday, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Excise and Prohibition, Shri Nitin Agarwal, appreciated the department’s efforts and directed officials to maintain the momentum to achieve the ambitious ₹63,000 crore annual target for FY 2025-26. He emphasized the need for continuous monitoring, timely review, and effective teamwork to sustain this strong growth trend.

According to the detailed revenue data, Uttar Pradesh’s excise receipts have maintained a consistent upward trajectory during 2024-25, reaching an estimated ₹52,574 crore by March 2025. The highest collection was recorded in March 2025, with a total of ₹9,468.51 crore, reflecting strong year-end performance and improved compliance across districts.

During the meeting, the minister instructed officers to strengthen enforcement measures, curb illegal liquor trade, and ensure strict action against any unauthorized movement of liquor from other states. He also encouraged the team to adopt innovative approaches, expand digital monitoring systems, and increase revenue through policy-driven efficiency and transparent processes.

The review was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Veena Kumari, Excise Commissioner Dr. Adarsh Singh, Special Secretary Shri Abhishek Anand, Additional Excise Commissioner (Administration) Shri Navneet Sehara, and other senior officials. District excise officers joined the meeting online and shared updates on progress and enforcement activities in their respective regions.

  • April 2024: ₹3,759.12 crore
  • July 2024: ₹3,952.53 crore
  • November 2024: ₹4,071.47 crore
  • March 2025: ₹9,468.51 crore

Officials highlighted that sustained efforts in country liquor (CL), IMFL, and beer segments, along with the “Others” category — which includes licence fees and special levies — have contributed significantly to the strong performance. These consistent figures reflect the effectiveness of Uttar Pradesh’s excise policy reforms and the department’s coordinated approach under the guidance of the state government.

With the Excise Department already crossing over half of its annual goal, officials expressed confidence that the ₹63,000 crore target for FY 2025-26 will be achieved successfully through efficient administration, vigilance, and cooperation across all districts.
