Carlsberg has introduced what it proudly calls the world’s smallest beer — a non-alcoholic creation just 12 millimeters tall, designed to spread awareness about responsible drinking.
Developed in partnership with RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, glass experts Glaskomponent, and miniature artist Åsa Strand, the tiny bottle holds only 0.005 centiliters of beer — literally one drop!
“To promote responsible drinking, we present our most moderate idea ever. The world’s smallest beer carries a big message — drink responsibly,” said Casper Danielsson, Head of Communications at Carlsberg Sweden.
He added that while some might think the bottle is AI-generated, it’s actually real — made with remarkable precision and teamwork.
Creating the miniature involved cutting-edge research and meticulous craftsmanship. RISE used fibre-optic precision tools to fill the bottle, Glaskomponent designed the glass, and Åsa Strand handcrafted its cap, label, and colour.
“It was a challenge to design and decorate something so tiny, but it was also great fun,” Åsa said.
To mark the launch, Carlsberg has also announced a student competition in collaboration with Tekniska Högskolan Studentkår (the Student Union at KTH Royal Institute of Technology). Students across Sweden are being invited to try and make an even smaller beer.
The winner will receive SEK 10,000 and an exclusive visit to the Carlsberg Research Laboratory in Copenhagen.
With this unique creation, Carlsberg hopes to show that even the smallest ideas can send a powerful message about moderation and mindful consumption.
