Uppal Group Forays Into Liquor Business, Eyes ₹70 Crore Revenue

Real estate major Uppal Group, known for luxury residences and SEZ projects, has diversified into the liquor industry with an investment of over ₹100 crore.

The company has launched a new arm, Uppal Brewers & Distillers Pvt Ltd (UBD), and rolled out two whisky brands — Soorahi and Madhvan — which are currently available in Delhi and Punjab.

UBD is aiming to sell 1 lakh cases annually within three years in the super-premium whisky category, targeting ₹65–70 crore in yearly revenue. The investment has been funded entirely through internal resources.

Looking ahead, the group plans to set up its own bottling unit in Uttarakhand or Madhya Pradesh by FY 2025-26, followed by a malt distillery as part of its long-term roadmap.

“We want to curate a portfolio of premium-only brands to tap into India’s fast-growing alco-bev market,” said Kanhav Uppal, Head of Operations, Uppal Group and Co-Owner, UBD.

Currently, the company has a contract-based setup in Punjab but is working towards establishing its own manufacturing facilities. In the meantime, it will operate through exclusive leased-line operations, added Ankur Sachdeva, Co-Founder & CEO, UBD.

UBD also plans to introduce two more whisky labels in the coming years, targeting the super-premium and luxury segments. Expansion is already underway in Haryana and the company intends to add one new state every quarter starting October, reaching 8–10 states by FY27.

Meanwhile, Uppal Group’s real estate division is also expanding. The company has acquired about 100 acres in Tehri and Rishikesh, where it plans to develop over 100 branded residences and a 60-key resort hotel.
