Piccadily Agro Industries has secured a major relief from the Karnal District Court, which has stopped Radico Khaitan from using the vodka brand name “Kashmyr.”
The court’s interim order, passed on September 23, came after Piccadily argued that “Kashmyr” was too similar to its own registered trademarks “Cashmir” and “Cashmere.” The judge agreed, saying the resemblance could mislead consumers.
As a result, Radico Khaitan and its associates are now barred from manufacturing, selling, advertising, or promoting vodka under the “Kashmyr” label until the case is fully decided.
Piccadily Agro had launched its luxury vodka “Cashmir” in May 2025, building on its earlier registrations of the names “Cashmir” and “Cashmere” in India and abroad. The company said Radico’s launch of “Kashmyr” in July at a similar price point risked confusing buyers.
The court issued the injunction under Order 39, Rule 1 and 2 of the CPC, which deals with temporary relief in such disputes. Piccadily clarified in a filing that this order does not have any immediate financial impact and the matter remains sub judice.
