A delegation from Odisha led by Mr. Debashish Patnaik, Additional Secretary (Excise), visited Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, to study the state’s transparent and revenue-oriented excise policies.
The team held a detailed meeting with Uttar Pradesh Excise Commissioner Mr. Adarsh Singh and other senior excise officials, where they were briefed on key aspects of UP’s excise policy and licensing system.
The meeting included focused discussions on the following components:
- E-Lottery System
- Composite Liquor Shops Concept
The Odisha delegation expressed appreciation for UP’s:
- E-lottery-based licensing model
- Fee structure
- Technology platform
- Track-and-trace system
- Compliance monitoring mechanisms
Mr. Debashish Patnaik commended Uttar Pradesh’s excise policy as an exemplary model, highlighting its potential to serve as a benchmark for other states.
This visit follows a similar one by the Karnataka Excise Commissioner Mr. Venkatesh Kumar R., who had recently toured UP Excise with his team and praised the state’s excise reforms for their transparency and effectiveness.
