Prayagraj, June 18, 2025 – With beer demand soaring this summer, tensions have flared in Kaushambi district. Some liquor shop owners reportedly caused a commotion at local warehouses, demanding extra supplies of a particular beer brand.
Due to the seasonal spike in beer consumption, warehouse owners are struggling to manage the supply chain. The situation has worsened with some retailers pressuring for more stock than allocated.
Jagjeet Singh, who runs a warehouse in Manjhanpur, shared his frustration: “Every summer, the demand for beer goes up. Some shopkeepers are insisting on more of one brand and aren’t accepting the supply limits set by distributors. Despite delays in receiving stock, they still cause trouble.”
He explained that the beer supply is fairly distributed among shop owners in the presence of excise officials, yet a few still create disturbances over not getting more.
Now, warehouse operators are urging the police to step in and provide security during distribution. They say the increasing pressure and threats from shopkeepers are making operations difficult.
Kaushambi SP Rajesh Kumar confirmed, “We have received the request for police support during beer distribution, and necessary action will be taken.”
