Bollywood actor and entrepreneur Vivek Anand Oberoi has taken a significant step into the premium spirits market by acquiring a 21% stake in Rutland Square Spirits, a luxury Scottish brand known for its unique gin infused with Assam’s rare oolong white tea.
Founded by Nishant Sharma, Rutland Square stands out for blending Indian tea heritage with traditional Scottish distillation, creating a one-of-a-kind Indo-Scottish spirit. The tea used in the gin comes from Assam’s Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, and Sivasagar—regions that contribute nearly half of India’s total tea production.
Oberoi’s investment is more than financial—it’s part of a broader vision to blend culture, craftsmanship, and sustainability. A key part of this vision is the development of a luxury, eco-friendly hotel in Edinburgh. This upcoming project is set to be Scotland’s first Ayurvedic wellness centre and Europe’s first hydrogen-powered luxury hotel, all while offering world-class hospitality against the stunning Scottish backdrop.
“This is more than a business deal,” said Vivek Oberoi. “It’s about building a bridge between India and Scotland through heritage, sustainability, and innovation.”
Rutland Square’s founder Nishant Sharma and director Veenu Sharma welcomed Oberoi warmly, calling the partnership a shared mission to elevate artisanal spirits and cross-cultural hospitality.
