Deepaknath PJ has been named the Deputy Director General of the Brewers Association of India (BAI), which represents major beer companies like AB InBev, Carlsberg, and United Breweries.
Based in Bengaluru, Deepaknath will focus on advocating for public policies related to the beer industry in India’s South and West regions, as well as managing certain national initiatives. He has extensive experience in both the beer sector and public policy.
Vinod Giri, the Director General at BAI, expressed confidence in Deepaknath’s ability to enhance the organization’s impact on discussions and regulations surrounding beer, promoting it as a responsible and sustainable choice.
With over 25 years in brand marketing and public policy, Deepaknath began his career at United Breweries, where he worked on the Kingfisher brand, including the successful launch of Kingfisher Strong. He then held a vice president position at SABMiller before moving into public policy, where he has spent the last four years advocating for the spirits industry in southern and western India as Deputy Director General of CIABC.
