As part of the new liquor policy for 2024-2026, East Godavari district has begun a lottery process to select candidates for liquor shop licenses. District Collector P. Prashanthi announced this move, aiming to ensure transparency and fairness in the license allocation.
The lottery is being conducted with the Joint Collector present, and there have been 4,384 applications submitted for just 125 available shops. Following the Andhra Pradesh government’s schedule, the lottery process has officially started for shops in the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation.
To maintain order, strong security measures are in place, involving both Excise and Revenue Police. The allocation will proceed in alphabetical order by mandal and municipality to keep the process clear and organized. Joint Collector S. Chinna Ramadu, District Liquor Excise Officer C.H. Lavanya, and other officials will oversee the lottery to ensure it runs smoothly and fairly.
