Bengaluru’s microbrewery scene is set to expand significantly thanks to new relaxed space requirements by the Karnataka government. Previously, setting up a microbrewery required a minimum of 10,000 square feet, but this has now been reduced to just 5,000 square feet.
This change is expected to boost the number of local breweries in the city, reinforcing Bengaluru’s reputation as the craft beer capital of India. With the lower space requirement, more entrepreneurs and smaller ventures will have the chance to enter the market and bring innovative beer options to local enthusiasts.
The move comes as a welcome development for Bengaluru’s craft beer industry, which has struggled recently, particularly during the pandemic. The new rules will open doors for both new startups and established players, increasing the variety of unique brews available to beer lovers in the city.
