Balasore: Police have seized a huge cache of illicit liquor from a vehicle in Balasore district and arrested a person in this connection.
The arrestee has been identified as Niranjan Siyal (27) of Sua village under Basudev police station limits in Bhadrak district.
Acting on a tip-off, an excise mobile team led by Excise Deputy Commissioner and District Excise Superintendent, intercepted the vehicle at NH-16 and arrested the accused. The cops also seized around 1200 litres of country-made liquor from him.
According to a preliminary investigation, it was learnt that the liquor was being smuggled to Bhadrak from Mayurbhanj.
Following this, a case has been registered and further investigation is underway in this regard. The accused driver has been forwarded to court, police said.
