Kerala celebrated this Onam with record liquor sales, crossing ₹920.74 crore — a 9.34% jump from last year’s ₹842.07 crore, according to the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco).
The biggest single-day sales came on Uthradam, when Bevco counters registered an all-time high of ₹137.64 crore, compared to ₹126.01 crore in 2024. Since Thiruvonam was a dry day, the demand shifted to Avittam, which saw sales soar to ₹94.36 crore, a sharp rise from last year’s ₹65.25 crore.
Bevco’s overall performance also remained strong. In 2024–25, liquor sales in Kerala touched ₹19,730.66 crore, up 3.5% from ₹19,069.27 crore in the previous year. Six Bevco shops made more than ₹1 crore each during the season, with the Manorama super premium outlet alone recording ₹67 lakh in sales — five times higher than last year.
Consumerfed, Kerala’s cooperative network, also reported its best-ever Onam sales with a ₹187 crore turnover. Goods worth ₹110 crore were sold at subsidised prices, while another ₹77 crore came from discounted household products. The sales were carried out through 1,579 Onam markets and 164 Triveni supermarkets across the state.
Clearly, when Kerala celebrates Onam, both Bevco and Consumerfed see their counters overflowing with customers.
