The strike was initially planned to protest alleged corruption within the Excise Department and to address various concerns related to the welfare of liquor vendors. Following the meeting on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah assured the Federation of Wine Merchants Association that their concerns would be reviewed and promised action on issues related to the department’s transfer system. Additionally, he instructed Excise Department officials to ensure liquor sellers are not harassed.
