Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has directed excise officials to take strict action against liquor shops charging prices above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP), warning that such practices damage the credibility of the government.
In a post on X on Tuesday, Pawan Kalyan responded to complaints from across the state, including Kakinada district, where liquor shops were reportedly selling alcohol at inflated rates. Similar complaints have been reported from other districts as well.
After reviewing the complaints, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that all liquor shop owners must strictly follow government regulations. He urged the Excise Department to maintain continuous monitoring of shops and ensure consistent enforcement against violations.
Pawan Kalyan stressed that the state government will not tolerate any deviation from prescribed rules in liquor sales and is committed to maintaining transparency and compliance in the excise system.
