Jaipur, October 30, 2025:
To curb the sale of illegal and spurious liquor, the Rajasthan Excise Department has launched a new mobile application called “Raj Excise Citizen App.” The app allows consumers to check the authenticity of liquor bottles by scanning the hologram sticker or QR code printed on them.
According to a senior department official, the initiative focuses on ensuring consumer safety and awareness. “Liquor bought from unauthorized sellers can be dangerous and even life-threatening. Using this app, consumers can instantly see details such as the brand name, MRP, bottle size, batch number, manufacturing date, and producer information to confirm that their purchase is genuine,” the official explained.
The app is also designed to promote transparency in the liquor trade and act as a deterrent against illegal alcohol networks. Citizens are encouraged to participate actively — if they find anyone selling illicit liquor or overcharging beyond the MRP, they can file a complaint directly through the department’s toll-free number (1800-180-6436) or email (excisecontrolroom@rajasthan.gov.in). The department has assured prompt action on verified complaints.
The “Raj Excise Citizen App” can be downloaded from the official excise department website (pexcise.rajasthan.gov.in) or by searching for ‘PEMS-2.0’ on Google Play Store. Officials believe that as more citizens use the app, illegal liquor operations will diminish, making the state’s alcohol market safer and more transparent.
Industry stakeholders have welcomed the move, calling it a positive step toward accountability and quality assurance. Sanjay Kumar, a liquor vendor in Jaipur’s C-Scheme area, said, “This app will help reduce false complaints and let customers verify quality themselves. Sometimes we’re blamed for taste differences, but now customers can check details instantly. It will also discourage those who mix cheaper liquor with premium brands to make extra profits.”
