Haryana Liquor Vends Auction Nets ₹3,400 Crore from 283 Zones

The Haryana Excise and Taxation Department has successfully auctioned liquor retail zones in eight districts, generating a massive ₹3,400 crore in revenue.

The auction, held over two days from May 26 to 27, covered areas including Gurugram (West), Rohtak, Panipat, Jhajjar, Hisar, Sirsa, Narnaul, and Mewat. Out of 411 available liquor zones, 283 were successfully auctioned—about 70% of the total.

Excise Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh said the bidding process saw strong participation, better than the same phase last year. He added that this reflects growing confidence in the state’s new excise policy.

The remaining 128 zones from these eight districts will go up for auction again in the first week of June.

Meanwhile, the next round of auctions is set for May 28–29, covering another eight districts: Sonepat, Faridabad, Ambala, Bhiwani, Fatehabad, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, and Panchkula.

Earlier this month, the Haryana cabinet approved a new excise policy for 2025–27. A key change is the realignment of the policy period with the financial year. The current policy will now run from June 12, 2025, to March 31, 2027, spanning 21.5 months. Future policies will follow the standard April-to-March fiscal cycle.
