In Uttarakhand, the liquor shop allotment process has been partially revised. The Excise Department will now conduct a lottery for the allocation of remaining shops after the renewal of retail liquor licenses. The lottery will take place between 20th March and 24th March. Shops whose licenses aren’t renewed will also be allotted through the lottery.
Excise Commissioner Harichand Semwal explained that the changes were made for administrative reasons. He urged applicants to follow the revised schedule for submitting their applications. Interested applicants can find the list of shops, required revenue details, and other necessary information on the department’s website: www.uttrakhandexcise.org.in and www.uk.gov.in.
Lottery Process:
- The first phase of the lottery will accept applications from 20th March to 22nd March, 2 PM. The lottery will take place on 22nd March at 4:30 PM.
- The second phase of the lottery will accept applications from 23rd March to 24th March, 2 PM. The lottery for this phase will be held on 24th March at 4:30 PM.
- The final allotment of liquor shops will be done on a first-come-first-served basis on 25th March, by 5 PM.
