Modi Illva, a prominent Indian alcoholic beverage company, has just launched Singhasan, a premium whisky made from the finest Indian malts and grain spirits, aged with oak. This is a huge step for India’s alco-bev industry, highlighting the country’s ability to produce world-class whisky using local ingredients and expertise.
Singhasan aims to shake up the Indian whisky market by offering a truly unique and high-quality homegrown option, competing with imported whiskies. It follows in the footsteps of the company’s successful brand, House of Rockford, which changed the game in the premium whisky segment in India. Modi Illva has also shown its dedication to catering to the evolving tastes of Indian consumers with products like Artic Vodka.
Singhasan showcases the growing skill of Indian distillers, blending premium Indian malts and smooth grain spirits into a rich, golden whisky. The result is a whisky with a strong aroma of oak and vanilla, offering a full-bodied, smooth taste with layers of citrus and oak. It’s a premium product with a flavor profile that’s distinct from most imported whiskies in the same category.
According to Abhishek Modi, Managing Director of Modi Illva, Singhasan is more than just a whisky; it’s a celebration of India’s craftsmanship. He emphasized that for too long, imported products have been seen as the standard for premium quality, but Singhasan challenges this view. It’s part of their broader mission to innovate and showcase the potential of Indian-made spirits.
Singhasan is now available in select regions like Goa, Odisha, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, with plans to expand across India soon. This whisky is set to redefine the Indian whisky market, offering a homegrown, premium alternative to imported brands.
