In Delhi, liquor shops, hotels, restaurants, and other places serving alcohol will be closed from February 3 to 5, and also on February 8 due to the upcoming Assembly elections.
The Delhi Excise Commissioner announced this in an official notice. Voting will take place on February 5, and the results will be announced on February 8. This election will feature strong competition between BJP, AAP, and Congress.
According to the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, election and counting days are considered “dry days,” meaning no alcohol can be sold or served.
The ban on alcohol sales will begin at 6 pm on February 3 and last until 6 pm on February 5, the day of the vote. Another ban will be in place on February 8, the day of counting. This restriction applies to all liquor license holders, including bars, clubs, and restaurants.
However, this ban doesn’t extend to areas in the Delhi NCR, such as parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, as no official notice has been issued for these regions.
