Loch Lomond has been named the 2024 “Distillery of the Year” at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), a prestigious global event

This recognition comes just days after the brand also won numerous awards, including over 10 medals. Loch Lomond, known for its Scotch whisky and its role as the official whisky of the four major golf tournaments, was praised for its exceptional quality and commitment to elevating its brand.

The IWSC, which has been running since 1969, is one of the world’s top three spirits competitions, with experts from over 100 countries tasting and judging thousands of spirits. Judges evaluate the whiskies blind, without knowing the brand, ensuring an unbiased assessment based purely on taste, aroma, and texture.

At this year’s IWSC, Loch Lomond 12 Inchmurrin won the top trophy in the “Scotch Whisky under 15 years” category, while Loch Lomond 12 earned a gold medal with a near-perfect score of 98. Judges described Loch Lomond as a perfect mix of high-quality whisky and a clear vision to take the brand to the next level.

In addition, Loch Lomond received 16 medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC), where Loch Lomond 12 Inchmurrin earned the Platinum Award. A spokesperson for Interliquer, the brand’s parent company, mentioned that the rising interest in single malt whisky reflects a trend for unique and distinct flavors. Loch Lomond’s focus on innovation includes having its own cooperage on-site, where skilled artisans carefully manage the oak barrels, ensuring the whisky’s quality is maintained.
