Odisha has introduced a strict zero-tolerance policy against illicit liquor, aiming to curb the sale and production of illegal alcohol in the state. Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan made the announcement, stressing the government’s commitment to public safety and addressing the social and health issues linked to illegal alcohol.
The new policy includes stronger law enforcement, heightened surveillance, and stricter penalties for offenders. Authorities will also work closely with local communities to raise awareness about the dangers of consuming illicit liquor.
This move comes in response to increasing concerns over alcohol-related crimes and the harmful impact of illegal liquor on public health. The government hopes the measures will reduce the presence of illicit alcohol in the state and create a safer environment for its citizens. The policy is set to be enforced immediately, with extensive operations planned to dismantle illegal liquor networks.
