John Distilleries, the maker of Paul John Single Malt Whisky, has announced the launch of Phase II of its Malt Plant in Goa, a major expansion that will triple the distillery’s production capacity. This new phase increases the plant’s annual production from 1.3 million liters to 3 million liters, addressing the growing demand for Paul John’s premium whiskies worldwide. The expanded facility was inaugurated by Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, with an investment of INR 500 crores.

Founded in 1996 by Paul P John, John Distilleries has always aimed to create an Indian single malt whisky that could compete with the world’s best. The company introduced Paul John Single Malt Whisky in 2012, quickly earning international acclaim. Since then, the brand has won over 330 prestigious awards, including accolades like the World’s 3rd Finest Whisky for Mithuna (97 points) and the Liquid Gold Award for Paul John Single Cask 161 Whisky (94.5 points) from whisky expert Jim Murray. Paul John also regularly wins Double Gold and Gold Awards at events like the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and IWSC.
Preparing for Global Growth
The opening of Malt Plant Phase II will help John Distilleries meet increasing global demand for its award-winning whiskies. With this expansion, the company plans to increase its production while also growing its presence both in India and internationally. Paul P John, Chairman of John Distilleries, emphasized that this expansion is a key part of the company’s strategy to meet the future needs of the whisky market. “With the completion of Phase II, we aim to fuel long-term growth and ensure we can continue meeting the rising demand for our single malts,” he said.
The distillery also plans to further refine its products, introduce new expressions of whisky, and strengthen the brand’s position in existing markets.
