Jamshedpur, Oct 26: As the assembly elections approach, authorities are ramping up raids on illegal liquor makers and sellers in all six assembly constituencies. Recently, they seized a substantial amount of alcohol, including 46.875 liters of foreign liquor, 45.05 liters of beer, and around 60 liters of illegal mahua liquor from five illegal selling sites. Four people were arrested, and legal action is being taken against them for violating the Excise Act.
In another operation, officials confiscated about 4,200 kg of Java Mahua and 145 liters of liquor from areas in Galudih, Ghatsila, and Barsol, Baharagora. An FIR has been filed against those involved.
The raid team included Inspector Prem Prakash Oraon, Ramdas Bhagat from the Excise Department, Sub Inspectors Ramdev Paswan and Om Prakash, along with excise constables and Home Guard personnel.
