Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Beverages Corporation plans to introduce QR codes on liquor bottles starting in February. This initiative is designed to improve security and combat counterfeiting. The Corporation will cover the costs for the QR code stickers, but significant investment will be needed for the machinery to implement the system.
Currently, only Travancore Sugars and Chemicals, a public sector unit, has successfully established a QR code system, which required an investment of about ₹1 crore.
