Premium international whisky brands from major companies like Diageo, Pernod Ricard, and William Grant & Sons have officially launched in Andhra Pradesh, thanks to a new liquor policy that has recently come into effect.
This new policy introduces a computer-based system that will determine which brands are supplied to retail outlets based on their sales. An official stated that this approach will be driven by market demand and supply dynamics.
Previously, from 2019 to 2024, these brands were unavailable due to older regulations that kept prices high and limited access to quality spirits. Now, with the old policy scrapped by the N. Chandrababu Naidu government, major alcohol brands can distribute 10,000 cases and sell 150% of their sales volume from the past three months, allowing for more flexibility in the market.
