In Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, the new liquor policy allows individuals to submit multiple applications for liquor shop licenses. State excise and prohibition director Nishant Kumar explained that this change aims to simplify the licensing process and encourage more people to enter the liquor business. By allowing one person to apply for several licenses, the government hopes to foster healthy competition and boost revenue.
Kumar noted that there are no limits on the number of applications someone can submit for the lottery process of liquor shops, nor are there restrictions on how many shops a person can operate at once. To facilitate this, the department has introduced a simpler authorization process, allowing applicants to file any number of applications.
A new form has been released that includes ID-based authentication for self-verification, making it easier for applicants to participate in the lottery. They will just need to provide details like their name and the name of any authorized representatives when submitting their applications.
