Pernod Ricard Reaffirms Commitment to Reducing Waste

Pernod Ricard Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to waste reduction in celebration of Global Cleanup Day.

In collaboration with “Let’s Do It Nigeria,” the company participated in World Cleanup Day as part of its sustainability initiative, themed “Make Room For Life.” This campaign aligns with Pernod Ricard’s sustainability goals for 2030, emphasizing a strong commitment to environmental health for both Nigerians and the global community.

Managing Director Michael Ehindero highlighted the company’s focus on minimizing waste through better resource management. He stated, “We share a world of finite resources that is under immense pressure due to human activities. At Pernod Ricard, we aim to minimize waste at every stage of our production and distribution processes to help preserve these resources.”

The company has made strides in sustainability by planting over 6,000 trees, eliminating single-use plastics, and introducing reusable and recyclable packaging. They have also stopped using single-bottle cartons for their products, following their principles of rethink, reduce, reuse, recycle, and respect.

Ehindero encouraged more public involvement in World Cleanup Day to help create a cleaner, healthier planet. This initiative focuses on addressing global waste issues and promoting better waste management practices. In 2023, over 26,000 volunteers in Nigeria collected more than 2,800 tonnes of waste across 28 states, working alongside Let’s Do It Nigeria.
