Hyderabad: Tonique Liquor Mart has been shut down due to its license expiring

Hyderabad: On Sunday, officials from the Excise Department shut down Tonique Liquor Mart on Road No. 36 in Jubilee Hills because its liquor license had expired on August 31. The closure was overseen by Hyderabad’s Excise Deputy Commissioner K.A.B. Shastri, Assistant Commissioner Anil Kumar Reddy, Jubilee Hills Circle Inspector Vasudeva Rao, and other officials. The shop had been established during the BRS regime as part of a policy for high-end liquor stores.

In another incident, there was some tension in Hassan Nagar when a six-foot-long python was discovered near Masjid Ahmed-E-Khatoon on Saturday evening. Locals spotted the snake near an ice factory and contacted snake catcher Hakim Mir Shakeel Ali, who safely captured it. The python will be released into a forest.

Local residents are familiar with such encounters, as Hakim Mir Shakeel Ali has rescued several snakes in the area. Avinash Vishvanath, General Secretary of the Friends of Snakes Society, mentioned that on Sunday alone, they rescued six snakes across different parts of the city, including rat snakes and cobras. He added that with the weather expected to turn sunny, they anticipate rescuing 20-30 more snakes.
