The Andhra Pradesh government plans to introduce a series of new policies over the next few months

The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to release a series of new policies over the next couple of months to boost the state’s economy. These policies will cover a range of areas including liquor regulations, free sand distribution, industrial development, MSMEs, skill development, horticulture, and solar energy. Additionally, a long-term vision document for 2047 will be unveiled.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed various departments to roll out these policies quickly, with the goals of reducing poverty and attracting investments.

Key updates include:

  • Free Sand Policy: An updated version will be introduced on September 11, allowing online orders and aiming to reduce corruption.
  • Liquor Policy: Scheduled for October 1, the new policy might shift from government-run retail outlets to private management through an auction system.
  • Vision Document 2047: This document will outline the state’s development plan for the next 25 years, aligned with the central government’s Vision 2047.
  • MSME Policy: The new policy will focus on women’s empowerment, prioritizing women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in establishing MSMEs and creating special zones for women entrepreneurs.
  • Industrial Policy 2024: Aimed at attracting major global companies, with sector-specific policies to cater to various industries.
  • Skill Development Policy: This policy will enhance skills for unemployed youth, with a focus on creating work-from-home opportunities, particularly for women.
  • Horticulture and Fisheries Policies: These are designed to drive growth in these sectors by at least 15% annually.
  • Infrastructure Development: The government plans to use a People, Public, Private Partnership (4Ps) model to improve infrastructure, reduce poverty, and generate employment.

Additionally, the construction of Amaravati, the state’s capital city, is a major priority. Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Administration P. Narayana has announced that work will begin within the next three months.
