UP Excise Department Achieves Second Best Performance in Shop Renewal this Year

UP Excise Department achieves impressive 92% shop renewal rate for 2024-25, setting a new benchmark. Remaining shops to be allocated through e-lottery.

Lucknow, January 12, 2024: The UP Excise Department has achieved the second-best performance in shop renewal for the year 2024-25. The department received online applications for renewal of 27,402 out of 29,767 shops, including country liquor, foreign liquor, beer, and hemp shops. This represents a renewal rate of 92.05%, which is the second-best performance in the department’s history.

The renewal process was open from January 5 to 11, 2024. During this period, licensees submitted applications for renewal with great enthusiasm. The remaining 2,365 shops that were not renewed will be allocated through an e-lottery from January 20 to 24, 2024.

UP Excise Commissioner Senthil Pandian said that the department was pleased with the high renewal rate. He attributed the success to the department’s efforts to make the renewal process more convenient and transparent.

The renewal of shops is a key part of the department’s efforts to improve the efficiency and transparency of the excise. The new shops will be equipped with modern facilities and will be subject to stricter regulations.
