The southern state has broken its previous record for liquor sales through the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco) during this year’s Christmas season.

Bevco outlets reported an astounding sale of liquor worth Rs 154.77 crore in just three days, setting a new benchmark for festive alcohol consumption.

Christmas Eve alone saw liquor worth Rs 70.73 crore flying off the shelves, marking a notable increase from the previous year’s Rs 69.55 crore.

The days leading up to Christmas, specifically on December 22 and 23, witnessed liquor sales worth Rs 84.04 crore, compared to Rs 75.41 crore for the same period in 2022.

The Chalakudy outlet in Thrissur district emerged as the top-performing location, recording the highest liquor sales during the Christmas season, closely followed by Changanassery in Kottayam district.
