Giving detailed information in this regard, U.P. Excise Commissioner, Mr. Senthil Pandian C. said that in the excise policy for the year 2023-24, a provision has been made by the government for the renewal of retail shops.

The period for online submission of application for renewal of shops was from February 03, 2023 to February 06, 2023. And, during this period, licensees have submitted applications and participated in renewal of their shops with much more enthusiasm than in previous years.

He told that for the year 2023-24, a total of 29522 country liquor, foreign liquor, beer and Bhang shops including model shops were to be arranged, out of which online applications have already been received for renewal of such shops to a total of 27497 shops.

Thus, the percentage of renewed shops in the year 2023-24 has been 93.14%; which has been the highest compared to before, whereas this percentage was 83.90% in the year 2020-21, 91.5% in the year 2021-22 and 90.63% in the year 2022-23 in the subsequent years.

This far it has been the best performance by the state excise department in terms of renewal percentage.

Renewal of residual shops will be done in three phases through e-lottery.
