Kanpur: National Sugar Institute (NSI), Kanpur has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indonesian Institute, Politeknik Perkebunan LPP, situated in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

NSI director Prof Narendra Mohan exchanged the MoU with H.E. (Mrs) Ina Krisnamurthi, Ambassador of Indonesia in India in the presence of foreign ministers of the two countries. The MoU was signed on June 17 in New Delhi. As per the MoU, the NSI, Kanpur shall help the Indonesian Institute in development of technology related to sugar and ethanol production, power generation, environment and quality control.

The institute shall also conduct faculty development programmes and other customized training programmes so that the Indonesian institute can develop its capabilities to provide competent manpower to the sugar and allied industry.
“We shall arrange such programmes physically or on virtual platforms as per convenience and requirement”, said Prof Narendra Mohan.
“The students of Indonesia shall also get a chance to study at the National Sugar Institute after due approvals. This MoU shall prove to be a milestone in strengthening bilateral relations of the two countries and I am sure the Indonesian sugar industry shall develop to the desired level with the assistance of our institute”, said Prof Mohan.
