Indore: Amidst row over liquor policy 2022, state government has invited applications to open microbreweries in restaurants/hotels in Indore and Bhopal.
According to senior excise officials, the commissioner on Tuesday issued a letter allowing owners of restaurants/hotels in Indore and Bhopal to set up microbrewery plants that will add freshly brewed beer in their menu. Besides, the licence fee will generate additional revenue for the excise department.
“The restaurants/hotels’ owners can apply to set up microbrewery by paying a licence fee of Rs 2.5 lakh for a year,” Indore assistant excise commissioner Raj Narayan Soni said.
The applicant should have at least 4,000 square feet area and also meet some other terms and conditions to get the licence. “There are many big hotels and restaurants that have obtained required permissions to serve liquor.
Licence to set up a microbrewery is for them ” he said. He said that excise department will keep a tab over quality of the freshly-brewed beer through regular sampling and quality checks. tnn
