He was quick to answer that the global pandemic has disrupted the wine and spirits industry. It has actually transformed several existing mindsets and accelerated the emerging trends. From cocktail premixes to experimenting with drinks, here is what Yangdup had disclosed about the upcoming trends in the wine & spirits industry.
02/10 Consumption of more premium brands
With a rise in home consumption during the pandemic, people relished more expensive brands of wine and spirits, and become accustomed to the taste. As a result, they began prioritizing quality over quantity in their beverages and are shifting to premium brands.
03/10Increase in home consumption of liquor & cocktails
With the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent restrictions, our social lives were confined to our homes and the drinking experience at home has transformed completely. Conventional mixers like soda and carbonated soft drinks were prevalent before the pandemic. However, in the new normal, people yearned for a change and experimented with their drinks, and thereby, shifted to premium cocktail mixers.
Drinkers have also taken up new hobbies and found outlets for creativity at home, with many adopting a more adventurous approach to mixology. Today, mixologists and brands across the world offer special lessons to those looking to ace their home bartending skills.
