Thane, Sep 27 (UNI) Banned IMFL worth Rs 37.80 lakh was seized and three persons arrested
for allegedly possessing the contraband, informed the Maharashtra Excise Flying Squad on
Monday.
The trio accused have been identified as Vasudeo Kisan Choudhari 42, Ranjan Shivram Shetty
(52) and Gulam Ahmed Raja, 34.
Talking to UNI, Excise Inspector Nanadkumar More stated that a tip-off was received that IMFL
banned for sale in Maharashtra was stocked in the Kumbarli area of Ambernath town.
Swinging into action, a raid was conducted at the spot on Saturday and the illegal liquor
manufactured in Goa was seized.
Also, three cars valued at Rs 6.25 lakhs, lables of Rs 5 lakhs, mobiles worth Rs 11,500 and Rs
46,000 cash have also been impounded, apprised the official.
The accused were produced before a local magistrate who remanded them into Excise custody
till September 28.
Further probe is on to determine from where the accused sourced the stock and who were its
intended buyers, he added.
