cafe owner has been arrested and thirty-two people — 24 men and 8 women — have been booked for allegedly violating Covid-19 norms by partying with alcohol and hookah at the food joint in Delhi’s Krishna Nagar area, police said on Friday.
A raid was conducted by a police patrol team on Thursday night around 2:30 am after the control room informed them about some boys and girls partying at the cafe amid loud noises without following social distancing norms, R Satyasundaram, deputy commissioner of police (Shahdara), said.
The police arrested the owner of Town Cafe, Manu Agnihotri (50), who was the main organiser of the party and was serving liquor and hookah without a valid license. All the accused were consuming liquor and smoking hookah at the cafe, police added.
” The police team reached the spot and found a bar counter open with 10 bottles placed on it. Some boys and girls were sitting together serving each other liquor and doing hookah. Upon interrogation, they revealed that they were having a celebration party and one Manu Agnihotri used to organise such types of parties. It was on his call that they started gathering after 10 pm,” DCP added.
Subsequently, Manu Agnihotri was arrested, who revealed that he also owns a restaurant in Paharganj and also used to organize such parties there too.
